Interlock re-levelling cost in Toronto

Re-levelling prices per square foot of surface that actually has to come up, which is usually a larger area than the visible dip. Within that, the three things that move the number are access, how deep the base problem goes, and whether drainage has to change at the same time.

  • Measured area, not the visible patch
  • Test lift before the number
  • Drainage quoted separately

Three Multipliers

Two jobs the same size can differ by double

Square footage sets the floor and three things move it from there.

Access is the first and the largest: a front driveway can be loaded directly from a truck, while a back garden reached through a gate means every wheelbarrow of base and every barrow of spoil is moved by hand, both ways, which is hours rather than minutes.

Depth is the second: a surface re-level that reuses the existing base is a fraction of the cost of one where the base has washed out and has to be dug, hauled and replaced.

Drainage is the third, and it is quoted separately rather than folded in, because it is a different scope and some people choose to stage it. That is why we open a test spot before giving a number: without knowing which side of the depth question you are on, a quote is a guess.

See what base repair adds, how full restoration compares, and what sunken patio access does to a price.

How It Runs

Four things we price before giving a number

  1. Measure what comes up

The area that has to be lifted, which extends past the visible dip to where the settlement actually stops.

  2. Walk the access

Gate widths, steps and the distance to a truck, because hand carrying base material is the biggest single labour variable.

  3. Open a test spot

A small lift says whether the base is reusable or has to be dug out and replaced, and that is most of the spread.

  4. Separate the drainage

If water has to be redirected it is quoted on its own line, so the paving and the drainage costs never blend into one figure.

Price Ranges

Why you get a low and a high

Until a surface is opened, the base depth underneath is unknown, and it is the single biggest factor in the price. Quoting one confident figure before that means either padding it heavily or coming back with a change order.

A range with the reason for its width is more useful, and it narrows to a number once the test spot is open. See how full restoration is scoped the same way, what base repair adds when the base has gone, and how sunken driveways price by area.

Common Questions

Re-levelling cost questions from Toronto owners

Asked on most visits for this kind of work.

Roughly $10 to $18 for a lift and relay, with the spread driven by access and whether the existing base can be reused or has to be dug out.
Spot repairs generally start around $800, which covers the visit and a small lift. Below that size it is rarely worth a call out on its own.
Access. Base material and spoil carried by hand through a gate takes several times the labour of the same volume tipped onto a driveway.
No. We measure, walk the access and open a test spot, then give you a written range with no obligation attached to it.
Because base depth is unknown until the surface is opened and it is the biggest factor. The range narrows to a number once the test spot is open.
A deposit when the date is booked, the balance when you have walked it and are happy. We do not ask for the full amount up front, and we do not invoice for extras that were not agreed before they were done.

★★★★★

Re-levelling was priced by area, with the base repair as a separate line. When the base turned out fine, that line came off the bill.

They explained why a sunken driveway costs more per foot than a patio, thicker base, before I signed anything.

The estimate held even after they found a buried downspout line under the dip. No change order argument.

Cheaper than the replacement another company pushed, and the result is the same flat patio.
